Ultrasound (USG)
Ultrasound examination of the genital organs is essential in diagnosing the causes of infertility. It is minimally invasive and gives information on most congenital and acquired morphological abnormalities. The uterus and ovaries are among the well imaged organs, therefore they can be examined not only by vaginal but also by abdominal probe. USG examination focuses on congenital developmental defects of the uterus, uterine fibroids (size, localization, growth dynamics), morphological changes on the endometrium (mucosal height, polyps), ovarian abnormalities (cysts, endometriosis, examination of ovarian reserve).
In assisted reproduction, we monitor by ultrasound the conditions for ovarian stimulation, the course of ovarian stimulation (folliculometry), the timing of ovulation and the quality of the uterine mucosa. Egg retrieval, embryo transfer and early pregnancy diagnosis are performed under ultrasound control.
